Connecting¶
Connect to your SmartBroom¶
- Switch on your SmartBroom with its power button.
- Open the app's SmartBroom tab and allow Bluetooth access when prompted. Bluetooth must be enabled on the phone or iPad.
- Find your broom under Discovered and tap Connect.
- Wait for the connected-broom screen to finish checking the device. It shows collection options, battery level, ownership, and saved data.
If Bluetooth access was denied, use Open SmartBroom Settings to allow it in the device's Settings app. If scanning has stopped, use the scan control to look again.
Automatic connections¶
In Settings → Connection:
- Automatic Connection reconnects to remembered SmartBrooms when they are discovered.
- Proximity Connection can connect to a broom brought very close to the phone or iPad.
For choosing between several brooms, use the discovered list. Match the connected device's name and serial number before collecting data. For separate broom controls on one iPad, see Multiple Windows on iPad.
Connection and ownership are different¶
Connecting opens communication with the broom. Claiming establishes the key used to access saved background data. The app tries a remembered key automatically on reconnection.
If the broom shows Locked — key unavailable, reconnect using the owner's app or a device with the same key. Do not use Erase & Claim as a routine connection fix: it deletes data stored on the broom. See Bonding and Ownership.
Disconnect¶
Use Disconnect on the connected-broom screen to end the Bluetooth connection. This does not release ownership or erase stored sweeps.
For recording without a connection, prepare Background Recording first and check the broom's recording lights after disconnecting.
