Charging

SmartBeam has a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and charges through its USB-C port using a 5 V USB power supply. A USB-C cable and charger are not included.

Charge your SmartBeam

  1. Connect a USB-C cable to the port on the side of the SmartBeam.
  2. Connect the other end to a powered 5 V USB supply.
  3. Check the charging light directly above the USB port using the table below. Unplug the cable when charging is complete.

You can charge SmartBeam while it is switched off. The charging light stays illuminated while USB power is present, even when the laser and system-state lights are off.

Read the charging light

The charging LED shines through a small hole on the side, directly above the USB port. Its light is deliberately dim.

Charging light Meaning
Steady orange Battery charging.
Steady green Charging complete. The light remains on while USB power is connected.
Off USB power is absent. This does not indicate the battery's remaining charge.

This is separate from the LEDs on the top light-bar. See LED Indication to identify each indicator.

If the charging light stays off after you plug in, check that the cable is fully connected and the USB supply is powered. Try another cable or powered USB supply if needed.

Check the battery level in the app

While your SmartBeam is switched on and connected, you can check its state of charge (SOC) in the app. Tap the unit on the sheet diagram, choose View Details, and look under Battery. SOC is the remaining charge shown as a percentage.

Use an external USB battery

If the battery is running low during practice, you can keep using SmartBeam powered by an external USB battery pack. Connect the pack's 5 V USB output to the SmartBeam's USB-C port and use the unit switched on as usual.

Battery runtime

A full charge provides approximately 10 hours of continuous use, as described on the SmartBeam product page. Recharge before practice when needed.
