Arming and Timing¶
Arming prepares the system for a rock; the rock starts the timing. Once armed, SmartBeam follows the beams in order along the selected throwing direction.
Before arming, connect and set up your beams. Every beam participating in the throw must be clear and established.
How to know the system is ready¶
Use the lights to understand the system without looking at your phone. When ready, the nearest participating beam shows yellow and the waiting beams farther down the sheet show purple. The app shows READY.
These are the system-state LEDs at the ends of the top light-bar. The yellow beam is the hot beam: the next one the system expects the rock to break.
Prepare, deliver, repeat¶
- Choose how to arm. Use Arming Modes for Manual, Automatic, or First Beam. First Beam is best for solo practice: sliding back to the hack starts arming for your next throw.
- Wait for readiness, then deliver. Timing begins when the rock breaks the first beam. As it travels, the next beam becomes hot and completed beams turn green.
- Review the throw. Results appear as measurements complete and are saved to History. Your arming mode determines how you prepare for the next rock.
See Timing Lights and Status for the full light sequence and app states, or Cancelling and Timeouts when you need to stop or a throw does not finish.
