Setting up Beams

Your setup has two parts: where the beams cross the ice and where you assign them in the app. Keep them matched so each result describes the right part of the throw.

Set up in four steps

  1. Choose your measurements. Decide which splits and speeds you want to capture together. See Choosing Measurements for placement options.
  2. Place and align the hardware. Put each sensor opposite its reflector across the sheet. The arrow-shaped beam-state LED shows green when the beam is established. Read Laser Safety before setup.
  3. Match the app to the ice. Connect your SmartBeams, then assign each unit to its physical location on the sheet diagram.
  4. Check the throwing direction. Point the app's arrow toward the receiving end. Reverse it when changing ends.

Once the beams are clear and the app matches the ice, continue to Arming and Timing.
