Settings¶
Open the Settings tab to manage connected SmartBeams, adjust timing and display preferences, and access your saved data.
SmartBeam Devices¶
Connected units appear at the top with their names, case colours, serial numbers, battery indicators, signal strengths, and firmware versions. Tap a unit to open its details.
- Update Centre checks connected units for firmware updates. See Firmware Updates.
- Saved SmartBeam Devices manages remembered units and automatic reconnection. See Saved Devices.
- Connected Device Messages, when present, contains messages relevant to your connected units.
The scanner button at the top right opens the Bluetooth scanner. See Connecting.
System Arming¶
Choose Manual, Automatic, or First Beam. Automatic mode also has a delay control for the wait before re-arming.
See Arming Modes for the controls and how each mode works.
Display¶
| Setting | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Rock speed display locations | Chooses which groups of speed readings are shown. All speeds are still measured, saved, and exported. |
| Display times in sheet order | Arranges results to match their positions on the sheet. Turn it off to use capture order. |
| Hide previous times and speeds | Hides the smaller previous readings beneath the main result. Saved results remain in History. |
See Understanding Results for reading the display and selecting speed locations.
Saved Setups¶
Automatically Restore Last Setup restores beam placements by matching the colours in your last used setup as units connect. If a colour needs you to choose between units, place that beam yourself. Automatic restoration stops when you start timing a rock.
Always check that the restored assignments match the hardware's actual positions before arming. See Managing Beams in the App.
Active Beam Locations¶
| Setting | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Far tee-line and back-line | Includes assigned beams at the receiving-end tee and back lines in the timing sequence. Useful for hit-speed practice; the rock must reach those positions for the sequence to finish normally. |
| Between hog-line locations | Makes the centre-sheet and beyond-hog positions available for placing beams, including post-release speed measurements. |
See Setting up Beams for choosing physical and app locations.
Power Saving¶
Keep screen active prevents the iPhone from dimming and automatically locking while SmartBeam is open and active.
The LED dimming control chooses the battery percentage below which SmartBeam's indicator LEDs dim to 50% brightness. The end options are Never and Always dim LEDs. This changes brightness, rather than the meaning of each colour; see LED Indication.
Data¶
Data Management shows stored-record information and provides CSV export and erase options. See History and Data.
Reset all settings to default restores app preferences after confirmation. It does not erase saved timing results; deletion is a separate action in Data Management.
